Brentz picks up two more postseason honors

Sophomore standout continues to be honored for tremendous season.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Sophomore Bryce Brentz became a consensus All-American on Thursday after earning two more All-America honors.

Brentz was named to the Rivals.com All-America team and First Team All-Ping! by Ping!baseball.com.

The Knoxville, Tenn., native has also been named Louisville Slugger First Team All-America, First Team Pro-Line Athletic/NCBWA All-America and a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes award. Brentz has been invited to the 2009 USA Baseball National Team Trials to be held at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, N.C., June 15-24.

Brentz had an unbelievable season batting .465 with 28 home runs and 73 RBI. Brentz set six single-season records including batting average, hits, runs, home runs, total bases and slugging percentage on his way to being named Sun Belt Player of the Year.

Junior Kenneth Roberts was also awarded All-Ping! honors as a Third Team pitcher. Roberts was named Most Outstanding Player at the Sun Belt Championships and First Team All-Sun Belt as he posted an 11-1 record, 3.04 ERA and struck out 62 batters.
