OMAHA, Neb. - Sophomore Bryce Brentz and junior Kenneth Roberts were awarded All-America honors by the American Baseball Coaches Association as announced by the organization on Saturday.

Brentz picked up his fifth First Team All-America honor as the ABCA awarded him as an outfielder. Brentz has been a utility player on most All-America teams but the ABCA recognized him as an outfielder because the majority of his playing time is in left field.

Roberts was named a Second Team starting pitcher after posting an impressive 11-1 record with a 3.04 ERA. The Murfreesboro, Tenn., native has been named Most Outstanding Player of the Sun Belt Championships, First Team All-Conference and All-Ping! Third Team.

Brentz was also honored by Baseball America as a First Team utility in its All-America teams released on Saturday. Brentz is the only Sun Belt player on the first team and one of just three from the league on the three All-America teams released by the magazine

The Knoxville, Tenn., native has received a number of honors in 2009 including Louisville Slugger First Team All-America, First Team Pro-Line Athletic/NCBWA All-America, Rivals.com First Team All-America, First Team All-Ping!, a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes award and Sun Belt Player of the Year.

Brentz posted impressive numbers in 2009 as he batted .465 with 28 home runs and 73 RBI. Brentz set six single-season records including batting average, hits, runs, home runs, total bases and slugging percentage.

The pair helped guide a 2009 squad that won both the Sun Belt regular season and tournament titles and broke 11 school records.
