Brentz received the invitation to tryout for the team after posting impressive numbers and recommendations from a number of the nation's top coaches.
The Knoxville, Tenn., native collected a number of awards after his stellar season including six All-America honors, Sun Belt Player of the Year and a semi-finalist for the Golden Spikes award.
"I am just glad to have made the team because it is a great honor. Everyone who's here trying out are great players and competitors," Brentz said. "I think it helped being a two-way player. I plan to help them on the mound but I know my main focus is to hit."
Brentz and the USA Baseball National Team will begin play Thursday, June 25 with the National Team tour. The team will open the tour against Canada at 3 p.m. Brentz joins Dewon Brazelton as recent Blue Raiders to be named to a USA National team.
