Men's Tennis Advances to SBC Tournament Finals

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee won the doubles point and all three completed singles, as the 29th-ranked and top-seeded Blue Raiders defeated fourth-seeded Denver, 4-0, in the semifinals of the Aeropostale Sun Belt Championships Saturday in Mobile, Ala.

Middle Tennessee had to work to win the doubles point at the Mobile Tennis Center but cruised through the singles to advance to the championship match of the conference tournament for the first time since 2002.

Denver's Adam Holstrom and Niklas Persson defeated 51st-ranked Andreas Siljestrom and Marco Born, 8-6, at No. 1, but Blue Raiders Brandon Allan and Kai Schledorn, ranked 22nd, won 8-3 at No. 2 over Viktor Zetterholm and Jason Tan. Anant Sitaram and Greg Pollack gave Middle Tennessee the doubles point with an 8-5 victory at No. 3 over Steve Flaks and Kalle Rosen.

In singles Born defeated Persson, 6-4, 6-4, at No.2, and Pollack won 6-3, 6-2, over Rosen at No. 6. Sitaram sealed the victory with a 6-4, 6-3, win at No. 5 over Flaks.

The Blue Raiders will meet either 44th-ranked Louisiana-Lafayette or 49th-ranked South Alabama Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the David Lubel Tennis Center on the USA campus.
