MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Former Blue Raider pitcher Chris Mobley will feel right at home in Greer Stadium this week as he and the New Orleans Zephyrs face the Nashville Sounds in a four-game series.
Mobley played for the Blue Raiders from 2002-2004 and was on the 2003 team that won the Sun Belt Tournament. Mobley was also on the 2003 and 2004 teams that competed in NCAA Regionals.
"It is good to be back playing in the Murfreesboro area. I have a lot of family and friends here so it is always nice to get back," Mobley said. "The team came up here at the beginning of the season but I was on the disabled list so I didn't make the trip. It is my first time playing here since I faced Belmont on this field for the Blue Raiders."
Mobley began the season on the disabled list but since joining the Zephyrs in May has posted 2-2 record with a 3.32 ERA. In 40.2 innings of work, Mobley has struck out 33 batters and picked up two saves.
The Zephyrs won the first game of the series 6-1 on Tuesday night at Greer Stadium. New Orleans will play the Sounds on Wednesday, July 29 at noon and 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 30 before rounding out the four game series at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 31.
