ATHENS, Ga. - Inclement weather in Athens, Georgia on Friday delayed play at the Southern Intercollegiate Championships with only partial rounds being played.

Only three Blue Raiders competed during the day with others being delayed until Saturday.

John Peers, the eight seed, defeated Marc Rocafort of Central Florida 6-3, 6-4 in Division I singles.

Victor Melo was scheduled to play Boris Conkic, the fourth seed in Division I singles, but due to the altered schedule the two will not face off until Saturday.

In Division II singles, Richard Cowden fell to David Barton of Mercer 6-4, 6-4.

In doubles action, Cowden along with Matthew Langley defeated Alabama's Creighton Blanchard and Trey Walston 8-7.
