Cowden, Langley win doubles match
September 19, 2009 · MT Athletic CommunicationsRichard Cowden and teammate Matthew Langley defeated College of Charleston's Mickael Boyer and Joe Nicolazzi 8-1 in doubles action at the Southern Intercollegiate Championships on Saturday.
In Division II doubles, Richard Cowden and Langley defeated College of Charleston's Mickael Boyer and Joe Nicolazzi 8-1. Cowden and Langley will face Roebuck and Potvin of Georgia Tech at 5 p.m. on Sunday in the round of 16.
Victor Melo fell to Boris Conkic of Tennessee, seeded fourth, 6-1, 6-7, 7-5 in Division I singles.
John Peers will face Rhyne Williams of Tennessee on Sunday after the Division II singles matches that were not played Saturday are played.
In Division II singles, Matthew Langley's match with John Taylor of Memphis was delayed until Sunday morning at 8 a.m.
Kyle Wishing will play Erik Halaj of Stetson on Sunday in Division III singles while Alex McCann is scheduled to face Adam Witcher of Samford.
In doubles action, Melo along with John Peers, the four-seed, will face East Tennessee State's Gille and Bandres on Sunday as Division I singles was cancelled on Saturday.
McCann and Wishing fell to Illia Ziamtsov and Michael Pereira of UNCW 8-4.
Consolation action will begin on Sunday, Sept. 20 for those players who qualify. Results from Sunday's action at the Southern Intercollegiate Championships will be posted on goblueraiders.com once play has concluded.
