MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee's Chris McCoy and Alan Gendreau both earned Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week honors as announced by the league office on Monday. McCoy was tabbed the Defensive Player of the Week while Gendreau was honored as the Special Teams Player of the Week.

McCoy, a senior from Villa Rica, Ga., played the best game of his career in helping lead the Blue Raiders over Maryland Saturday to garner his first-ever player of the week award. He finished with a career-best nine tackles, including four for loss and a team-high six solo stops. McCoy also blocked a field goal, recovered a fumble, had a pass breakup and registered one sack. The four tackles for loss equaled the second most in school history and were the most by a Middle Tennessee player since the 2005 campaign. His blocked field goal in the second quarter was the first of his career.

McCoy was also given a Helmet Sticker award by ESPN.com for his performance and was named the National Defensive Performer of the Week by College Football Performance Awards.

Gendreau, who earned his first player of the week honor, made the game-winning field goal from 19 yards as time expired to give the Blue Raiders their biggest road win in school history. Gendreau scored eight points in the game and was a perfect 2-for-2 on field goals.

The Blue Raiders have now picked up three player of the week honors this season and 56 all-time. Under Rick Stockstill, the Blue Raiders have now won 28 player of the week awards.
