MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Middle Tennessee women's tennis team will begin fall tournament action by playing host to the Buck Bouldin Fall Classic Friday and Saturday in Murfreesboro, Tenn. The event will open a series of five tournaments for the Blue Raiders.

"We are planning to see where our team is at," head coach Alison Ojeda said. "Last year, we had five new players and with them coming back, practices have been where we were at last April. It has been a good sign that they have spent the year training. We are probably better than a year ago because practices have been consistent and steady. This is the most ready we have ever been for a fall tournament. The new girls on the team should help us out quite a bit."

Three other schools will make the trek to Murfreesboro for the tournament, including fellow Sun Belt member UALR. Other participants will hail from in-state foe Chattanooga and nearby opponent Murray State.

"We played two of those teams last year (Chattanooga and UALR) and had close matches with them. Hopefully, we will see where we are at this season after this weekend."

The Blue Raiders earned a 4-3 victory over Chattanooga and 5-2 triumph against UALR in a pair of home matches last spring.

Seniors Natalie Araya and Anna Djananova lead the young Middle Tennessee squad, which also features sophomore returners Marietta Bigus, Taylor Coffeey and Alex Dachos. The Blue Raiders advanced to the second round of the Sun Belt Tournament last April.

The Buck Bouldin Fall Classic will feature three flights of singles and three of doubles. There will be no team scoring as all results will be based on individual play.
