June 22, 2005 · MT Media Relations
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee Head Softball Coach Leigh Podlesny announced the addition of Shelby Stiner to the roster for the 2006 season.

"Shelby is what we look for in a player," Podlesny said. "She has the ability to make an immediate impact in the game on several levels. She can hit for power, she has speed on the bases, and is extremely reliable on defense."

Stiner comes to the Blue Raider program from Glendale Community College where she was a middle infielder for the Gauchos. The 5-feet-5-inch player from Peoria, Arizona had a .360 batting average with six homeruns, 23 stolen bases and 39 RBI.

"We are very excited to have Shelby join our MT Softball family. She is an outstanding student and will bring experience to our program."

Stiner joins Justine Cerda, Laura Moore and Samantha Floyd and Martha Davis who signed scholarship agreements in November.
