To open play at the tournament Peers and Melo paired up to defeat Wietoska and Marchese of Duke. The duo is currently ranked 22nd in the ITA poll and will face Hall and Calligari of Louisville in the second round on Saturday.
Peers, ranked 58th in the ITA poll, defeated Bendikt Lindheim of Nebraska 4-6, 7-5, 6-3. Peers will face Sebastian Vidal of William and Mary in the second round of A4 singles on Saturday.
In A1 singles, Melo fell to Steve Forman of Wake Forest 6-3, 6-4. Melo will face VCU's Tim Johanseen on Saturday in the consolation bracket.
Results will be posted on goblueraiders.com at the end of play each day of the tournament.
