Win puts Peers in main draw
Begins main event Thursday; Pairs with Melo for doubles
October 7, 2009 · MT Athletic CommunicationsJohn Peers needed one win to advance to the main draw of the ITA All-American on Wednesday and he got it.
Peers cruised to the main draw by defeating Gregory Hirshman of Stanford in straight sets 6-3, 6-2 in the final round of qualifying.
The Melbourne, Australia native will begin play in the ITA All-American main draw on Thursday, Oct. 8. Brackets for the main draw doubles and singles have not been posted.
"John played very well today. He executed the game plan very well and got the job done," head coach David McNamara said. "He made his goal to get into the main draw and is now looking to get a few wins there as well."
Peers will pair with teammate Victor Melo for the doubles portion of the main draw and will begin play on Thursday.
Results from the ITA All-American main draw will be posted on goblueraiders.com when they become available.
