MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee extended its win streak to four-matches after a 3-0 (28-26, 25-16, 25-16) over Denver on Sunday afternoon.
No Blue Raider had double-digit kills as it was a true team effort on Sunday. Senior Ashley Mead and junior Izabela Kozon each had a team high nine kills.
As a team, the Blue Raiders notched 45 kills in the match for a .341 hitting percentage while Denver had 31 kills for a .155 attack percentage.
Defensively, the Blue Raiders had eight blocks and 31 digs with four different players having three block assists. Kozon led the team with 10 digs while senior Leslie Clark had eight. Clark guided the offense with 36 assists on the day.
The two teams battled throughout the first set with Denver leading off and on. With the match tied at 25, Middle Tennessee battled and pulled out the win. Clark notched the winning kill after a heads up assist by Wistrick.
Middle Tennessee took control of the match after its scare in the first set. The Pioneers battled but the Blue Raiders never let them get within more than two points. The Blue Raiders took a 2-0 lead in the match after Mead's kill sealed the win.
After two sets, Mead led the team with eight kills at the break with a .444 hitting percentage as she had no errors. As a team, Middle Tennessee had 32 kills for a .354 hitting percentage after going 32 for 65 with just nine errors.
The Blue Raiders cruised to the win in the final set of the match never letting Denver into it.
The Blue Raiders begin a four-match road swing beginning with Western Kentucky at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 20. Middle Tennessee will then travel to Louisiana to face UL-Lafayette, UL-Monroe and New Orleans during the weekend.
