BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Blue Raiders perform well as main draw action begins in doubles and singles at the Wilson/ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championship.
John Peers, seeded fourth, defeated Will Kendall of Indiana 6-3, 6-4. Peers will face Kentucky's Alberto Gonzalez at 11 a.m. Saturday morning.
Victor Melo also performed well winning his match 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 over Indiana's Isade Juneau. Melo will face Eastern Tennessee's Charles Bottoni at 12 p.m. on Saturday.
Alex McCann lost his match 6-2, 6-4 to Slavko Bijelica of Purdue while Matthew Langley fell to Indiana's Jeremy Langer 5-7, 6-3, 6-3.
In doubles action, Alex McCann and Kyle Wishing fell to Purdue's Branko Kuzmanovic and Paul Foley 8-5.
John Peers and Victor Melo, seeded fourth in the tournament, received a bye in the first round of play. The duo will face Bobby Deye and Brian Starr of Xavier Saturday morning.
