Nomoto drops straight set decision Saturday

CINCINNATI - Middle Tennessee freshman Yuiri Nomoto dropped a straight-set match Saturday in the round of 32 to conclude the Blue Raiders' participation in the ITA Ohio Valley Regionals in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Nomoto, facing No. 98-ranked and No. 14-seeded Yevgeniya Stupak of ETSU in the main singles draw, was handed a 6-0, 6-1 loss. The Tokyo, Japan, native was the lone Blue Raider to compete Saturday in the tournament's main draw, which featured the best players from across the region.

Four other Middle Tennessee players saw action in the singles consolation flight. Taylor Coffey defeated Caitlyn O'Gara of Cincinnati after the Bearcat had to withdraw due to injury. Marietta Bigus knocked off Cincinnati's Elise Woulfe 6-4, 6-1 and Carla Nava was defeated by Brittany Larson of Miami (Ohio). Alex Dachos also lost to Miami (Ohio)'s Anastasia Dracheva.

Middle Tennessee will conclude its fall slate Nov. 6-8 at the UT St. Mary's Fall Classic, hosted by Tennessee, in Knoxville, Tenn.
