Peers guides Blue Raiders on Saturday

Peers defeated Alberto Gonzales of Kentucky in a three set battle 6-3, 6-7 (8), 6-3 to begin the day. Then the Melbourne, Australia native won his afternoon match 6-4, 6-3 over Alex Das of Eastern Kentucky advancing to the quarterfinals. On Sunday, Peers will face Tennessee's Matteo Fago in the quarterfinals.
Melo defeated Charles Bottoni of East Tennessee State 3-6, 6-4, 6-2. Then with his afternoon match with Josh MacTaggart of Indiana tied at 2 all in the third set (3-6, 7-5) he had to withdraw due to an injury.
Alex McCann fell to Patrick Rose of Purdue 6-1, 6-2 in the first round of consolation singles.
Also in consolation singles, Matthew Langley defeated Parul Verma of Eastern Kentucky 6-1, 6-1. Langley will face Louisville's Alejandro Calligari in the quarterfinals of consolation play on Sunday.
Peers and Melo defeated Divalerio and Moye of Virginia 8-5 on Saturday morning. The duo then had to pull out of their night match with ETSU's Grega Teraz and Charles Bottoni due to an injury sustained by Melo.
