NEW ORLEANS - Senior Leslie Clark has been named Sun Belt Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Leslie Clark ran the offense to help the Blue Raiders win three straight matches on the road and extend its win streak to seven matches.
The Olathe, Kan., native averaged 12.30 assists per set as Middle Tennessee had 40 or more kills in two three-set matches to end the week.
"Leslie has had an outstanding season so far and this past week really excelled especially against Western Kentucky. Our team has been getting better and better every day which is in large part to Leslie's leadership and play," head coach Matt Peck said.
She also assisted the defense notching 27 digs, putting her second on the team. Clark also had three service aces and seven kills during the week.
Against rival Western Kentucky, Clark recorded 41 assists averaging 10.25 per set as the team knocked down 53 total kills. She also aided the defense with six digs.
In the two matches with ULL and ULM, Clark notched a total of 82 assists averaging 13.67.
Clark is the first setter to receive the weekly honor this season. Clark and the rest of the Blue Raiders will round out their four-match road swing against New Orleans tonight at 7 p.m.
