Palo picks up win after five innings of work
October 26, 2009 · MT Athletic CommunicationsSenior Blake McDade went 3-4 with two walks and an RBI in the opening game of the Blue White Series.
Palo, from Houston High School in Germantown, Tenn., gave up only three hits and one run in five innings as the Blue team built a 5-0 lead in the fifth inning. The lone run came on a home run by the White team's Hunter Dawson in the bottom of the fifth. Dawson also had a double as he was White's most productive hitter.
Robertson had a double and a single, and was hit by a pitch in five at-bats, while McDade went 3-4 with two walks and an RBI. Freshman Ryan Ford homered for the Blue.
The losing pitcher was junior college transfer Eric Gilley, who gave up five runs in four-plus innings of work.
Likely starters for Tuesday's game will be seniors Chad Edwards for the Blue and Kenneth Roberts for the White as the White team looks to tie the series. The game will start at 2:45 and there is no admission charged.
