MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - With perhaps their best chance to win a tournament on their fall schedule, the Middle Tennessee women's golf team will travel to Gulf Shores, AL, to close out fall activity in the UAB Invitational on Monday and Tuesday.

The tournament will be a 36-hole event, 18 holes each day. It will be played on the Peninsula course in Gulf Shores.

Coach Chris Adams feels like it is a tournament that her young team has a chance to win.

"This field is not nearly as highly-ranked as the others that we have played in. There are a lot of teams that are ranked either behind us, or just ahead of us, so if we play well, I think we have a good chance to win," said Adams.

"There are two teams ranked ahead of us, but I think we can compete with them if we can avoid shooting in the high seventies," noted Adams. 'We are still looking for consistency, and that will be a factor in Gulf Shores as well."

Three of the teams in the tournament, UL Monroe, South Alabama and Arkansas State, are Sun Belt Conference rivals, and will give Adams an idea of where her team is in regard to conference competition.

Adams will go with her top three players based on the average scores of tournament rounds played so far this fall. Those three are freshmen Olivia Love and Ashley Haggard, and sophomore Morgan Hale. .

The other two players will be Stephanie Smith and Karisa Akin. They were the low scorers in a qualifying round on Friday to fill the last two slots on the travel squad.
