MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee's Sherman Neal was voted the Sun Belt Conference Special Teams Player of the Week by the league's media members on Monday.

In the first quarter against FAU, Neal scooped up a blocked punt and returned it 29 yards for his first collegiate touchdown. Through two offensive possessions, the Blue Raider offense was struggling and Neal's play ignited the entire team and helped them seize momentum.

Neal is a junior walk-on from Naperville, Illinois and it was the first honor of his career.

The Blue Raiders have now picked up five player of the week honors this season and 58 all-time. Under Rick Stockstill, the Blue Raiders have now won 30 player of the week awards.
