MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Junior Izabela Kozon has been named Sun Belt Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Kozon guided Middle Tennessee to three wins during the week including a 3-0 win over West Division leader New Orleans.
The Warsaw, Poland native knocked down a team high 42 kills for a .424 hitting percentage in the three matches. In 85 attack attempts Kozon had just six errors. She also added assistance to the defense with 18 blocks, averaging two per set, and four block assists.
Against New Orleans, Kozon knocked down a team high 16 kills with just two errors in 27 attempts for a .519 hitting percentage. Kozon also had 11 digs and three block assists in the match.
In the two matches with South Alabama and Troy, Kozon tallied 26 kills with a .379 attack percentage as she averaged 4.33 kills per set. She also assisted the defense with seven digs.
The Blue Raiders will be back in action this weekend when it plays host to Florida Atlantic and Florida International. The matches will round out a four-match home stand and will be the last home matches of the season.
Both matches are set for 7 p.m. with Senior Night festivities taking place before the Florida Atlantic match on Friday, Nov. 6. On Saturday, Middle Tennessee will play FIU in a battle for the Sun Belt East Division title and fans are encouraged to attend after the Blue Raiders' football game with FIU.
