MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Senior Janay Yancey has been named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Yancey led the Middle Tennessee front line throughout the week which included a 3-0 win over Florida Atlantic. Yancey averaged 2.29 blocks per set on the weekend with 16 total blocks. Yancey also aided the offense with 10 kills posting a .389 hitting percentage.
Against FAU, she had eight total blocks averaging 2.67 per set. Yancey also added five kills in the match with a .571 hitting percentage. Yancey also had eight total blocks against FIU as she averaged 2.00.
This is the second Defensive Player of the Week honor by a Blue Raider and the fourth overall this season.
Middle Tennessee will be back in action next weekend when it travels to Alabama to round out the regular season. The team will first face South Alabama in Mobile on Friday, Nov. 13 before playing Troy in Troy on Saturday, Nov. 14.
