MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Middle Tennessee Blue Raider soccer team hits the road for the first time in a month for conference tilts at Arkansas-Little Rock and Arkansas State this weekend, looking to pick up its first win in Sun Belt play in 2001.

The Blue Raiders dropped their SBC opener to Florida International last Friday, 1-0, in a well-played match by both squads. MT missed three open-net opportunities and the visiting Panthers eventually broke the scoreless tie with a goal in the 71st minute by Michele O'Brien.

Second-year head coach Scott Ginn and his squad takes on winless Arkansas-Little Rock Friday at 4 p.m. in Little Rock. The Trojans stand 0-8-1 after dropping a pair of league matches last weekend to Denver and North Texas.

MT leads the all-time series with UALR, 3-2, including three straight victories in the series. The Blue Raiders have taken three straight one-goal wins, including last season's 3-2 triumph in Little Rock. Kenya Hickey scored twice and Sheri Robbins added a goal and an assist in the win. Last year's contest is the only previous match played in Little Rock. MT stands 1-1 at home and in neutral games versus the Trojans.

Sunday's meeting with Arkansas State in Jonesboro kicks off at 1 p.m. The Indians head into the weekend 2-7-0 after dropping their first two Sun Belt matches last weekend, also to Denver and North Texas. ASU takes on Western Kentucky Friday at home before Sunday's meeting with the Blue Raiders.

Jenny Cox scored twice in the second half and also had an assist in last year's 4-2 win in Jonesboro. The Blue Raiders lead the all-time series, 1-0, after last year's victory.

"This is a weekend where we can pick up two wins, but only if we play well," Ginn said. "We have to continue to play like we have over the last two weeks, and play with that intensity for the entire 90 minutes of each match."

MT returns home October 12 & 14, entertaining Denver and North Texas on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
