Volleyball Takes Tourney Title at UNC-Charlotte

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee volleyball (6-1) remained undefeated at the Spring Hill Suites UNC-Charlotte Tournament on Saturday to win its first tournament of the season.

In the first match on Saturday, the Blue Raiders defeated Delaware 3-0 (30-14, 30-23, 30-22) for it's second consecutive shutout of the weekend. Junior Andressa Lyra and freshman Ashley Adams led both squads with 12 kills and Lindsay Sisco had 10 kills.

Middle Tennessee went five games with Texas-San Antonio in the second game of the day and came away with the victory 3-2 (21-30. 30-16, 30-11, 28-30, 15-8) to take the tournament title.

Lyra struck again to lead the Blue Raiders, with career-high 31 kills in the match. She also had 10 digs in the match. For the first time this season, a total of five Blue Raider players hit double figure kills in a match. Adams also had a career-high with 17 kills and Victoria Monasterolo and Quanshell Scott each registered 10 kills.

The Blue Raiders are now riding a five-match winning streak to close out the weekend. Middle Tennessee will take their streak into next weekend when the team hosts the Blue Raider Bash Tournament beginning Friday, September 9.
