MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- Former Middle Tennessee pitcher Chris Mobley recorded a save for Team USA Monday in a 6-4 win over Australia in the IBAF World Cup in Haarlem, Netherlands.

Mobley tossed a scoreless inning to record the save in Team USA's second victory of the tournament. The righthander tossed a perfect ninth inning in the squad's comeback victory, sparked by a two-run homer from catcher Rob Johnson in the eighth inning.

Mobley made the 24-man roster after leading his parent organization, the Florida Marlins, in relief appearances while playing for the Greensboro (NC) Grasshoppers in the South Atlantic League. When Mobley departed the Grasshoppers last week, the Kingsport, Tenn., native led all of the minor leagues in saves with 34 while compiling a 3-5 record with a 2.30 ERA and 73 strikeouts in 58.2 innings of work in 53 appearances.

Team USA's remaining schedule in the two-week tournament: Tuesday against Spain, Wednesday versus Puerto Rico, September 9 against Nicaragua, September 10 versus Japan, September 12 against Greece, and September 13 versus Chinese Taipei. Quarterfinals take place on September 14, with the semifinals on September 16 and the championship game on September 17.
