Brentz Louisville Slugger Preseason All-America

Roberts receives Third Team honors

TUCSON, Ariz. - Junior Bryce Brentz received his second preseason honor on Monday after being named First Team Louisville Slugger Preseason All-America.

Brentz, a utility player on the team since he is a dual threat at the plate and on the mound and was the only Sun Belt player on the first team.

The Knoxville, Tenn., native led the nation in four statistical categories in 2009 while batting .465 with 107 hits, 28 home runs, 73 RBI and scored 60 runs.

Senior Kenneth Roberts was named to the Third Team after posting an 11-1 record with a 3.04 ERA and guiding the Blue Raiders to the Sun Belt Conference tournament title.

Brentz and Roberts were the only Sun Belt student-athletes to receive Louisville Slugger Preseason All-America honors.

The duo will lead Middle Tennessee during the 2010 season which opens on Feb. 19 in a three-game series at Memphis.
