NEW ORLEANS - Middle Tennessee redshirt senior forward Alysha Clark has been named the Sun Belt Player of the Week for January 18 it was announced by the league office Monday. The accolade is the 10th of her Blue Raider career and fourth this season.

The 10 overall Sun Belt honors are the second most in league history, trailing the record by two. The four this season are tied for third in the conference annals for most in a single-season, trailing her record six from a year ago and former Blue Raider Amber Holt's five from 2007-08.

Clark posted a pair of double-doubles this past week as Middle Tennessee swept FIU and Florida Atlantic. The Mt. Juliet, Tenn., native averaged 29.5 ppg and 12.0 rpg in the two games.

The All-American began the week with a 22-point, 13-rebound effort against the Golden Panthers Wednesday. She connected on eight field goals but added a 5-of-6 outing from the foul line as one of four MT starters in double figures. Her 13 boards were a game high, and she added a career-best tying six assists and four steals.

She then poured in 37 points and hauled in 11 rebounds, leading all players in both categories, against the Owls Saturday. She dropped in 14-of-22 field goals (63.6 percent) and was 9-of-10 (90.0 percent) from the foul line. She also swiped a season-high five steals against FAU.

Clark now has 65 career double-doubles, tying for 11th all-time in NCAA history. She needs one more to move into the Top 10.

She also was tabbed as one of 21 Midseason Candidates for the Wooden Award Wednesday. She was the only Sun Belt representative on the list and one of just eight to garner the accolade for the second-straight season.

On the year, Clark is averaging 24.6 ppg and 11.6 rpg, tops in the Sun Belt in both categories. She also is first with 5.6 offensive rebounds per game, and second with a 60.5 field goal percentage and 36.0 minutes per game.

In league games only, Clark averages a Sun Belt-best 29.0 ppg and 11.2 rpg, while placing second for steals (3.2 per game) and third for field goal percentage (62.7), offensive rebounds per game (5.0) and defensive rebounds per game (6.2).

She will join her Blue Raider teammates in their next game at 7 p.m. Wednesday when Middle Tennessee travels to Monroe, La., to face ULM.
