Blue Raiders Falter; Lose 3-0 to WKU
September 23, 2005 · MT Media RelationsThe Blue Raiders started out slow and never seemed to catch up. It was the first time Middle Tennessee has been shut out this year and the squad's first loss in the month of September.
Middle Tennessee had the lowest attack percentage of the season, hitting a paltry .054 in the match. The Blue Raiders had three players with negative hitting percentages and committed 25 errors. The team also had nine service errors and they all seem to come just when the Blue Raiders were trying to claw back into game.
Western Kentucky didn't fair much better, as the Toppers had 11 service errors and committed 14 errors. However, WKU played the points it needed to in order to win the match.
The only streak that continues for the Blue Raiders is junior Andressa Lyra's consecutive matches recording double figure kills. Her 12 kills in the match is the 16th straight and she also led the game with that number.
Middle Tennessee will try to bounce back on Sunday, as the Blue Raiders will travel to Troy for a 1 p.m. match up. It will be the first Sun Belt meeting between the two teams.
