Adams, Szabo-Siljestrom Lose in Tourney Finals

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee Kelly Adams and the doubles team of Ann-Kristin Siljestrom and Claudia Szabo both lost in flight finals Sunday, ending a very good opening weekend for the women's tennis team at the UTC Baras Fall Classic at the Champions Club in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Head coach Alison Ojeda was a little disappointed in the losses on Sunday, but had a hard time keeping her enthusiasm under control after such a positive weekend of matches by her entire team.

"We did lose a couple of matches [Sunday], but our team really played well all weekend and put to use all of the things we've been practicing for three weeks," Ojeda said. "Now we have some other things to work on, things we saw during this weekend's matches."

Adams dropped a 2-6, 4-6, decision in the Flight B singles finals to top-seeded Alet Boonzaaier of Tennessee Tech.

Szabo-Siljestrom lost 8-6 to Chattanooga's Bonnie Adams and Anastasia Zhukova in the Flight A doubles finals.

Pooja Kommireddi ended her tournament on a positive note in Flight C singles, winning by default in the finals.
