Melo's performance seals win for team
February 14, 2010 · MT Athletic CommunicationsJunior Victor Melo's 6-4, 6-5 win over Matija Palinic handed Middle Tennessee its first win of the 2010 season.
Middle Tennessee began play by winning the doubles point for the second straight match. Sophomore Richard Cowden and freshman Shaun Waters battled the Blue Demons' Vanja Grgec and Mathis Hambach pulling out the 9-7 win.
Junior Victor Melo paired with sophomore Michael Langley to defeat Alasdair Graetz and Douglas Perrin to give Middle Tennessee a 1-0 lead.
Perrin and Hambach defeated McCann and Langley to take a 2-1 lead in the match when singles play began.
The Blue Raiders won the rest of their matches on the day to take the win. Peers won easily, 6-4, 6-2 over Bartosz Jozwiak. Then Waters won his match in three sets, 6-4, 0-6, 7-5 over Graetz.

Cowden rounded out play with his three set win, 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 over Hartman.
The Blue Raiders will be back in action on Friday, Feb. 19 when it plays at South Florida.
