MT falls in season opener
Second game of doubleheader slated for 2:30 p.m.

WOODSTOCK, Ga. - The Middle Tennessee softball team dropped their season opener Friday morning in an 8-1 defeat to the Southern Illinois Salukis at the Phyllis Rafter Memorial tournament in Woodstock, Ga.
Senior Lindsey Vander Lugt pitched six innings of work giving up seven runs on 12 hits.
Junior Corrie Abel played well in her first game back from season injury in 2009, going 1-2 with a walk and the lone Blue Raider run scored. She also reached on an error giving her a perfect on base percentage. Freshman Ashia Terry drove Abel in from third on a sacrifice fly to right giving the Murfreesboro, Tenn. native her first RBI of her collegiate career.
The team will play the second half of their Friday doubleheader this afternoon at 3:30 p.m., as they take on the host Kennesaw State Owls. Full coverage and scores will be available after the second game on goblueraiders.com.
