Adams-Chemin Reach Doubles Final

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee freshman Kelly Adams and Marlene Chemin won twice on Saturday, reaching the Flight A finals during the second day of competition at the UK Fall Invitational in Lexington, Ky.

Adams and Chemin defeated Ohio State's Caitlin O'Keefe and Julie Voss, 9-7, late Friday, and won again twice on Saturday to make the Flight A finals.

Adams-Chemin won 9-7 over Marshall's Jessica Keever and Shannon Brown in the quarterfinals before taking out Denver's Rachel Sackmaster and Kyla Iwinski, 8-4, in the semifinals. They will take on Kentucky's ninth-ranked duo of Kim Coventry and Joelle Schwenk at 11:30 a.m. CT Sunday.

Late Friday, Pooja Kommireddi and Ann-Kristin Siljestrom lost, 8-4, to Purdue's Mallory Voelker and Anya Dzeva. The duo won twice on Saturday with the identical score of 8-2 in both matches, defeating Marshall's Ali Paradis and Molly Axel, as well as a mixed tandem of Abilene Christian's Sarah Drummond and Ohio State's Sarah Kinning.

In singles play Saturday, Siljestrom lost 2-6, 6-2, 10-12, in Flight A to Ohio State's O'Keefe. She will play East Tennessee's Olga Batsula Sunday at 8 a.m. CT.

In Flight B, Adams defeated Marshall's Kellie Schmidt, 1-6, 7-5, 10-5, and will face Purdue's Voelker on Sunday at 8 a.m.

Also in Flight B, Chemin beat Shivani Dave of Illinois, 7-6, (4), 7-5, and will take on Eastern Kentucky's Hannah Bartsch Sunday at 8 a.m.

In Flight C, Kommireddi defeated Keever, 6-3, 2-6, 10-5, and will face Purdue's Anya Dzeva Sunday at 10 a.m.

We did great today. Our girls continued to work on everything we've been working on the last month," head coach Alison Ojeda said. "They focused on attitude and things they can control and did an awesome job."
