WOODSTOCK, Ga. - The Middle Tennessee softball team earned its first win of the 2010 season in dramatic fashion, Saturday morning scoring five runs in the final two innings to drop the Alabama State Hornets 5-3.
A late sixth inning rally sparked by a Kandra Singleton walk followed by errors on the next two plays brought the Blue Raiders their first runs of the contest.
In the seventh, following two quick MT outs Brittney Banania walked and was then pushed to third on a Singleton single. Caitlin McLure's bunt single scored Banania and Kelsey Dortch followed with another bunt single to scoring Singleton. A wild pitch to Corrie Abel brought home McLure from third for the Raider's fifth run.
Freshman Janele Robinson pitched a strong game earning the first win of her collegiate career. Robinson struck out eight batters in seven innings of work giving up three runs, all earned. The Blue Raider defense played strong the second half of the game retiring nine straight batters in the final three frames.
