Adams-Chemin Fall in Doubles Final
October 2, 2005 · MT Media RelationsAdams and Chemin won three matches in two days to reach Sunday's final against Kentucky's ninth-ranked duo of Kim Coventry and Joelle Schwenk. The two freshmen have posted five victories in two fall tournaments this season.
"Kelly and Marlene really played well in the tournament but met a very tough team in the finals," head coach Alison Ojeda said. "Our team played much better as the tournament progressed this weekend, and we want to take those positive results and work in practice to continue getting better this week."
In other doubles action, Pooja Kommireddi and Ann-Kristin Siljestrom won 9-8 (5) over East Tennessee's Tara Byrne and Olga Batsula in Flight B.
In singles action, Siljestrom lost to Batsula, 3-6, 6-3, 3-10 in Flight A. In Flight B, Chemin defeated Eastern Kentucky's Hannah Bartsch, 2-6, 6-3, 10-7, while Adams lost 1-6, 0-6, to Purdue's Mallory Voelker. Kommireddi lost 5-7, 2-6, to Purdue's Anya Dzeva in Flight C.
The Blue Raiders play their final fall tournament next weekend, hosting the 19th Annual Middle Tennessee Fall Invitational, Friday-Sunday at the Buck Bouldin Tennis Center.
