BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Middle Tennessee women's basketball team will close the 2009-10 regular season at 11 a.m. (Central) Saturday when it faces Florida Atlantic inside FAU Gymnasium in Boca Raton, Fla.
The Blue Raiders enter the game with a chance to claim the Sun Belt Conference's No. 1 seed in the upcoming league tournament. Middle Tennessee is currently tied with West Division champion UALR in the league standings, as both schools own 16-1 conference records.
The two-game road swing through south Florida began with a 101-58 victory at FIU Wednesday. Middle Tennessee has topped the 100-point plateau in each of their last three games and five times in the last seven outings overall entering Saturday's contest. The Blue Raiders have won their last 12 games, improving their overall mark to 21-5.
The Owls bring a 14-13 overall and 10-7 Sun Belt ledger into the game. Florida Atlantic began the month by winning three straight; however, it has dropped two of its last three, including an 80-74 setback to Western Kentucky Wednesday.
Middle Tennessee owns a 7-1 all-time series lead against the Owls, including a 92-76 triumph in the earlier meeting this season, January 16 in Murfreesboro.
The game will be televised live on the Sun Belt Network, shown locally in Tennessee on Comcast/Charter Sports Southeast (CSS). Lyn Rollins will handle the play-by-play, while Debbie Leonard will serve as the color analyst.
