MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Both of Middle Tennessee's ranked doubles teams won first-round matches late Thursday, advancing to the round of 16 at the Polo Ralph Lauren ITA All-American Championships at the Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla.

Senior Brandon Allan and junior Kai Schledorn, the eighth-ranked doubles team in the country, defeated 14th-ranked Pramod Dabir and Ryler DeHeart of Illinois, 8-5. The tandem plays Ball State's Matt Baccarani and Patrick Thompson Friday.

Juniors Marco Born and Andreas Siljestrom, ranked 10th nationally, won 8-6 over Louisville's 19th-ranked Jeremy Clark and Jakob Gustafsson. The duo faces Virginia Tech's Nicolas Delgado and Arvid Puranen at 3 p.m. Friday.

A win by either team would put them into the quarterfinals later in the day.

"The two doubles teams played very well, really came out fired up and carried that throughout their matches," head coach Dale Short said. "I was really impressed with Brandon and Kai, because that was Illinois' No. 1 team and they started fast and really controlled the match."

In singles action, Born dropped a 5-7, 4-6, decision in the first round of the main draw singles bracket to East Tennessee's Oscar Posada, ending Born's run after three straight victories in qualifying to reach the main draw. He then lost to Florida State's Ytai Abougzir, 4-6, 2-6, in the consolation draw.

Middle Tennessee's other three players - seniors Rishan Kuruppu and Greg Pollack, and sophomore Marc Boiron - begin plan in a tournament at Georgia Tech on Friday.
