MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee's Ann-Kristin Siljestrom and Marlene Chemin both won a pair of singles matches Saturday, advancing to the Flight B finals at the Middle Tennessee Women's Fall Invitational at the Buck Bouldin Tennis Center. In the Flight B in the quarterfinals, Siljestrom won 6-2, 6-2, over Jacksonville State's Babette Lombarda, and Chemin defeated UT Martin's Jeanne DeWet, 6-1, 7-5.
Siljestrom defeated UT Martin's Elizma Schoonees, 6-2, 6-1, in the semifinals, and will face Chemin in the finals Sunday morning. Chemin won 6-7, 6-3, 10-5, over UAB's Samrin Tanzeem.
In Flight A in the quarterfinals, Kelly Adams dropped a 7-5, 2-6, 2-6, decision to UAB's Gulsah Esen.
In Flight C, Pooja Kommireddi won 6-3, 6-4, over UT Martin's Vikki Cann and 6-2, 6-1, over Western Kentucky's Laura Caffey in the consolation bracket.
In doubles action in Flight A consolation, Adams and Chemin continued a match against UT Martin's Elizma Schoonees and DeWet, with the Middle Tennessee duo behind 3-5 to start. The tandem fell behind 4-7, broke at 5-7 and then again at 7-7 to take the lead. But they were broken to force a tiebreaker and lost in the breaker, 7-9.
Late Friday, Chemin defeated Ball State's Katie Owens, 6-3, 1-6, 10-3.
