Day one of USF tournament canceled

CLEARWATER, Fla. - Six-hundred miles of travel and 12 hours on a passenger bus could not help the Middle Tennessee softball team escape their worst rival of the 2010 season, the weather, as it was announced this morning that first day of competition at the USF Under Armour Showcase had been canceled do to heavy rain in the Clearwater, Fla. area.
Although play is expected to resume tomorrow with clearing skies late this evening, this marks the seventh and eighth games of the season the Blue Raider softball has been unable to play do to inclement weather. The team was schedule to play a night doubleheader against Temple and Maine.
The second and third days of the competition have not been canceled to this point and play is expected to resume tomorrow with the Blue Raiders taking on Radford and Penn State at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., respectively.
