Senior places 10th in national competition

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Middle Tennessee's Brittany Cox finished 10th in the NCAA in the weight throw event at the 2010 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Fayetteville, Ark., recording a mark of 63-7.75 (19.40m).
Cox, who entered today's competition ranked eighth in the NCAA, placed 10th overall in competition with a 63-7.75 (19.40m) best throw recording on the third and final attempt of her preliminary flight. The Antioch, Tenn., native was just out of the top nine athletes who would go on to compete in the finals. The event was won by Louisville's D'Ana McCarty with a 74-8.25 (22.78m) toss.
Cox's season best 67-6 (20.57m) was thrown at the Middle Tennessee Invitational at the Murphy Center.
Cox will have one more opportunity to capture her first All-American title tomorrow as she competes in the shot put competition beginning at 4:30 p.m. Full results and coverage will be available on GoBlueRaiders.com.
