MARANA, Ariz. - Middle Tennessee dropped a 4-1 decision to TCU on the final day of the 2010 Calloway Match Play Championship at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, Dove Mountain. The Blue Raiders were the No. 11 seed and the Horned Frogs were the No. 9 seed.

New Mexico posted a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over Southern California to win the 16-team event. The 15th-seeded Lobos became the lowest seeded team to claim the team title at the event.

Against TCU, senior Kent Bulle lost his first match of the week by falling to Johan de Beer, 2 and 1. In another close match, Jason Millard fell to Travis Woolf, 2 and 1.

Sophomore Hunter Green and senior Craig Smith both halved their matches to account for the Blue Raiders' only point. Green tied Tom Hoge, while Smith equaled the total put up by Daniel Jennevret. Green halved his match in dramatic fashion by birdying the last hole, the par 3 16th.

Brad Simons lost his match to Pontas Gad, 4 and 3.

"We were in every match we played this week," said Head Coach Whit Turnbow. "We just could not close the deal. You cannot play mediocre against this type of competition and expect to win because they are just too good. But we got a good luck at what it takes to compete at that level and we will benefit from the experience."

The Blue Raiders will now have off until heading to Jonesboro, Ark., for the Red Wolf Classic on April 12-13.
