The Blue Raiders finished their first nine holes 16 strokes over par, but picked it up in the last nine, shooting just four-over.
Leathers carded an even par 72 to lead the Blue Raiders and tie for eighth.
"Clara had a very steady round for us," said Adams. "I'm proud of her performance today."
Ashley Haggard tied for 33rd with a four-over 76. Morgan Hale and Olivia Love each carded an eight-over 80 to tie for 71st. Steph Gough is tied for 90th after shooting a 10-over 82.
Karisa Akin, who is competing in the event as an individual, is tied for 98th with an 11-over 83.
The Blue Raiders will continue play in the Rebel Intercollegiate, which features 16 teams ranked in the top 100, tomorrow morning. Live scoring will be available at golfstat.com.
