Blue Raiders defeat New Orleans 4-2
Cowden win hands team match

The match began with singles and senior Alex McCann handed the Blue Raiders their first point with his 6-0, 6-0 win over Rohit Chivukula.
Then junior John Peers defeated Benjamin Bouhana 6-1, 6-1 in No. 1 singles.
New Orleans' Guilherme Rebolo defeated junior Kyle Wishing in three sets, 3-6, 6-4, 6-0 to put the Privateers within one, 2-1.
Freshman Shaun Waters put the Blue Raiders within one point for the win with his 1-6, 6-3, 6-2 win over Abdelrahman Zaki in No. 4 singles.
Sophomore Matthew Langley fell 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 to Ben Smith in No. 3 singles as New Orleans kept the score within one, 3-2.
Sophomore Richard Cowden handed Middle Tennessee the match with his three set win over Stepan Siska. Cowden pulled out a 7-6 nail biter in the first set but lost the second 6-2. Then he gained control cruising to a 6-3 win in the third set for the win and the match.
Middle Tennessee will play Louisiana-Lafayette at 3 p.m. in its third match of the Sun Belt Shootout.
