Lady Raiders finish 8th; Durham ties for 6th

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. - The Middle Tennessee women's golf team shot a solid 309 on the final day of the Ross Resorts Pine Needles Invitational to move up two spots to eighth. The Lady Raiders had a 54-hole total of 958 at the Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club in what was their final tournament of the fall season.

The tournament, which was played at the same course as the 2007 U.S. Women's Open, was won by Augusta State in a playoff over Georgia State. Both teams finished with a 905 total.

"I was pleased with the way we bounced back on Tuesday but overall it was a very disappointing tournament," said Head Coach Rachael Short. "We have a lot of work to do over the winter before we begin play this spring."

Taryn Durham was solid once again for the Lady Raiders as she fired a 73 on Tuesday to finish tied for sixth. Durham posted a 225 total and finished just six shots from the overall lead.

Maggie McGill had a 78 in the final round to finish with a 241 and in a tie for 34th while teammate Jamey Dillard was 44th with a 244.

Mallory Bishop tied for 53rd with a 250 and senior Grace Holmes tallied a 253 and came in 56th.

The Lady Raiders will now have off until they begin play in the spring on Feb. 14 in BajaMar, Mexico.
