Blue Raiders Drop 1-0 Decision
October 12, 2001 · MT Media RelationsMychael Movius scored her sixth goal of the year at the 10:02 mark in the first half, and the Pioneers (10-2, 3-1 SBC) took a 1-0 lead into intermission despite dominating the first half of play. DU took 14 shots to the Blue Raiders one in the opening 45 minutes, and had six corner kicks. Middle Tennessee goalie Emily Shrum kept her team in the match, making five saves in each half.
MT (6-5, 2-2) mounted a more potent attack in the second half, pressuring the Denver defense and taking two shots on DU keeper Erica Izard. But the Pioneers kept up the pressure, outshooting the Blue Raiders, 8-4, in the second half.
The Blue Raiders host North Texas Sunday at 1 p.m. in the second contest of a three-game homestand. MT also host Appalachian State Wednesday in a nonconference match.
