Blue Raiders fall 3-1 to Louisiana

Will play doubleheader starting at noon Saturday

LAFAYETTE, La. - It was a pitching duel between UL-Lafayette and the Blue Raiders Friday night with the Ragin' Cajuns taking a 3-1 win in a game that lasted less than two hours.

UL's Zach Ozborne (7-2) worked his fourth complete game of the season allowing just one run, which occurred on a double play, on six hits with 11 strikeouts. There were only five extra base hits in the game two of which were Blue Raider doubles.

Senior Kenneth Roberts (3-4) allowed three runs on eight hits, two of which were solo home runs, while striking out four in eight innings of work.

It was a night of missed opportunities as the Blue Raiders had a bases loaded opportunity in the third but senior Blake McDade hit into a double play. Then in the sixth junior Justin Miller struck out swinging with runners at first and second.

Middle Tennessee had six hits on the night all recorded by different players. Senior Drew Robertson and junior Bryce Brentz each recorded doubles, the only extra base hits by the Blue Raiders.

Matt Goulas, Chad Keefer and Lance Marvel each had two hits on the night for ULL with Keefer and Marvel each hitting home runs.

ULL scored first on a solo home run by Keefer to begin the second inning. Then Marvel hit a solo home run down the left field line with one out putting the Ragin' Cajuns up 2-0.

A two-out single by Robichaux in the fourth scored Keefer from third adding another run to the Ragin' Cajun lead.

Middle Tennessee put its first run on the board in the seventh as Guidry scored from third after Robertson hit into a double play, 3-1.

Due to inclement weather predicted for Lafayette, La., area on Sunday, May 2 the Blue Raiders will play a doubleheader beginning at noon.
