Softball team wins Sun Belt Academic award

MOBILE, Ala. - The Middle Tennessee softball team was named the 2010 All-Sun Belt Academic team on Tuesday for their accomplishments in the classroom.
As a team, Middle Tennessee combined for an overall 3.33 GPA. This marks the fifth time in program history the Blue Raiders have earned this distinction. It is Sue Nevar's third All-Sun Belt Academic award during her three years at Middle Tennessee.
Also recognized on the evening; Caty Jutson, Caitlin McLure, Kandra Singleton, Lindsey Vander Lugt and Natalie Ysais were named to the 2010 SBC Commissioner's List for maintaining a 3.75 GPA or higher. Kelsey Dortch and Kaycee Popham were listed on the Sun Belt Conference Honor Roll for making a 3.5-3.75 GPA.
"I am very proud of our girls," said head coach Sue Nevar. "We recruit our athletes to be good scholars as well as strong ballplayers."
The Blue Raiders will open Sun Belt Tournament play tomorrow against Louisiana's Ragin Cajuns. Full results and live video will be available at GoBlueRaiders.com.
