The Blue Raiders are coming off a 76-66 loss to in-state rival Chattanooga on November 18. Houston has a 1-1 record entering the contest and holds a 5-1 advantage over Middle Tennessee. Houston defeated Middle Tennessee 80-56 last season in the Houston Classic. The Blue Raiders have a record of 20-10 in home openers.
An estimated 600 Blue Raider fans took the short drive to Chattanooga to see Middle Tennessee in their season opener and the debut of seventh Head Coach Rick Insell. The home opener with Houston is expected to be heavily attended, as those who didn't get a peek of the 2005-06 edition of the women's team will get their first look on Tuesday.
Junior guard Chrissy Givens had a career night against Chattanooga. The Monroe, Louisiana native tied her career-high in points with 18 and also pulled down a career-high 15 rebounds.
Insell also started freshman Johnna Abney at the point, but the Mt. Vernon, Kentucky native also shared time with sophomore Latoya Barclay. Fellow freshman guard LaCondra Mason also saw time in the lineup.s
