Head Football Coach Andy McCollum

On Florida International's offense:
"The quarterback is very good. He throws it well, moves around well. This is a very dangerous offense. They have great speed on the perimeter. This is a team that has won three of the last four so we know how tough of a game it is."

On how the team played at Troy.
"I'm very proud of our seniors. I've said all along this team has a lot of character. Through everything they have stayed together as a family and I never questioned whether they would. I told them before we played Troy; this isn't about me. This is about them and their opportunity. I want them to handle everything they do, on the field and in life, with class."

What do you want your legacy to be at Middle Tennessee?
"I really don't think about it. My number one thing right now is loyalty to these kids. This University is bigger than any one individual and always will be. This about our players and I want them to understand things don't always go the way you want. Sometimes you are promised things that don't happen, but it's how you deal with those things that are important.

On the experience of coaching at Middle Tennessee:
"I've had a great experience here and it's been great for me. I've been afforded a chance and great opportunity to be a young head coach at a school I love and for that I'm very appreciative but this isn't about me. I'm not going to make a big deal about this being the last game I will coach at Middle Tennessee because it's just not fair to these players. It's about them and they deserve the attention."

On the attendance at Middle Tennessee compared to other schools in the Sun Belt:?
"I hear the criticism about our fans and our fan base. We have as good of fans as there is in our conference and they are faithful. I think we do have good fans and support, as good as in this Sun Belt Conference but our people just don't know how to count them. I walk out into the stadium at Troy and they say there are 17,000, well there wasn't. The support we have is as good as any place I have been in our conference. It's a joke, but we get the blame for it. In the future I think our people should get with other schools and see how they count attendance. It may help in the future."

Have you thought much about what it will be like Saturday coaching your last game at Middle Tennessee?
"I believe in trying to outwork people. I try to be loyal to the players. I really haven't worried about it. My focus has been on trying to help these kids win one more game."

DL Quinton Staton
On the Florida International game:
"Everybody wants to win this last game. All of our seniors do, but with the situation with coach 'Mac,' we want to make sure he goes out a winner, too. It means a lot.

On coach McCollum's situation:
"When I heard about the situation it shook me up. I was emotional and didn't like it but coach Mac had a team meeting and told us what he wanted, which was us to play hard, be understanding of the situation, be positive and remain strong. That helped because he should be hurting and he was only worried about us and how we would react. It's tough because he's a good man and he's a good coach but this is a business and he's tried to help make us understand that."

DL Devarick Scandrett
Some people questioned how your team may have played at Troy. Where you surprised with how well you played?
"I'm not surprised we won at Troy. Coach Mac talked to us and explained the situation. He made us understand. He didn't want it to be about him. He wanted it to be about Middle Tennessee winning a game and our seniors going out as winners."

On Andy McCollum's situation:
"I'm not happy about what has happened to coach Mac. I feel if we had done our jobs for him better this wouldn't be the case so it's upsetting. He's been my coach for four years and I respect him greatly. He's a fighter and he's going to be fine. This will be a very emotional game but we are going down there to win."
