Five Blue Raiders receive ABCA All-Region honors

Brentz, Guidry and Miller named First Team

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Five Blue Raiders received American Baseball Coaches Association South Central All-Region honors as announced by the organization on Monday.

Juniors Bryce Brentz (outfield) and Justin Miller (second base) along with sophomore Justin Guidry (designated hitter) received First Team honors at their respective positions.

The trio of players will be up for All-America honors will the committee meets later this week in Omaha, Neb., in conjunction with the start of the NCAA College World Series.

Senior Blake McDade (first base) and junior Tyler Burnett (third base) were named Second Team All-Region.

These five players were a major part of the 2010 Middle Tennessee team that finished third in the Sun Belt and posted a 35-23 record. Brentz, Miller and Guidry received First Team All-Sun Belt honors while Burnett was named to the Second Team.

Also four of the five were drafted in the 2010 Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft and will begin their professional careers in the upcoming weeks. Guidry, who was not eligible to be drafted, is the only Blue Raider of the group returning for the 2011 season.

Middle Tennessee's five student-athletes who were named ABCA All-South Central Region were among 22 Sun Belt players to receive All-Region honors.
