Edwards signs contract to play for Otters

Becomes eighth Blue Raider to sign professionally

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Chad Edwards has signed a contract to play with the Evansville Otters in Evansville, Ind.

The Paducah, Ky., native, helped guide the Blue Raider pitching staff throughout the 2010 season posting an 8-2 record with a 4.21 ERA and three complete games. Two of Edward's complete games were shutouts including one to keep Middle Tennessee's season alive.

Against UL-Lafayette, Edwards came through in the clutch to keep the Blue Raiders alive in the Sun Belt Championships working the third complete game shutout of his career. He allowed six hits in the outing and struck out five batters.

Edwards joins former Blue Raider Todd Martin, who plays for the Southern Illinois Miners, in the Frontier League.

Middle Tennessee has had eight student-athletes sign professional contracts following the 2010 season which is the most in school history.
